Every WxAlerts account has one type. Your type is shown on the Account tab of your account.
| Type | How you get it | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Personal | Every account starts here | Alerts, saved places, the live map |
| Spotter | Pass a spotter exam | File your own storm reports |
| Meteorologist | Confirmed work email, or a request an admin approves | Mark reports, public remarks, questions to spotters, a personal placefile key |
| EOC | A request an admin approves | Relay reports for spotters on your net |
If more than one applies, your account shows the highest: Meteorologist, then EOC, then Spotter, then Personal. Holding a higher type does not take anything away. A meteorologist who is also a current spotter can still file reports.
Changing your type
Spotter is never requested. It turns on when you pass an exam and stays on while your certification is current.
Meteorologist and EOC are requested from Change account type on the Account tab. Pick one and fill in its form. You can have one request open at a time for each, save it as a draft, and withdraw it while it waits.
