Upload a certificate
If you have taken a SKYWARN class from your local NWS forecast office, or a spotter course on MetEd, you can add its certificate to your WxAlerts spotter account here.
Sign in to upload
A certificate is kept on your account, so this page needs to know who you are. Signing in brings you straight back here.
Sign inYour reports publish straight away whatever is on your account. How much weight a report carries comes from the report itself and from your reports over time.
Your certificate
The file is stored privately: only you and WxAlerts administrators can see it. It is read automatically with Anthropic's Claude to note the course, the date and the issuing office, and is not shared with anyone else. WxAlerts records what the certificate says; it does not check it with the issuing office.
Lost your certificate?
Two ways forward. NWS Birmingham's on-demand SKYWARN training and quiz takes about an hour and ends with a new certificate you can upload here. Or tell us when and where you trained, and we will note it on your account as you said it.
A date and office you tell us is noted as yours and does not add a certificate to your account. Uploading a certificate later does.

Not trained yet? Look for a class on your local NWS forecast office's SKYWARN page, or browse the spotter courses on MetEd. The free WxAlerts modules are informational reading alongside either.
