Model maps

The whole forecast in one loop, rendered straight from the NBM and HRRR grids. Each image carries its own scale, valid time and model run, so it still makes sense once it has left this page. Save them, post them, put them in a chase log.

Raw model output, not a forecast issued by anyone. For warnings and watches see the live map; for a specific place see the point forecast.

Using these

They are free to save, post and republish. They are derived from public NOAA model output and are not an official NWS product, if you share one, say where it came from and don't present it as a warning. See Terms §4.3.

Two formats are offered because they are for different places. TheWebP animation carries every step the model published, at full colour, and is what the page shows. The GIF is a subsampled copy kept under 5 MB so it pastes anywhere that still insists on one, because its frame count varies by field: a smooth field like wind costs far more per frame than a sparse one like reflectivity. The PNG is a single full-resolution frame at the hour nearest now.
